Installation, repair and maintenance of aerial optic fiber cable and underground last-mile.
The lineman is expected to understand all aspects of cable stringing, tensioning and how to maintain 100% safety procedures during work on the high power transmission line.
Job Description
Resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems and ensure that they work properly
Perform Optic Fiber Cable (OFC) stringing and tensioning with appropriate sags in energized circuits (live) withhold-off permit or de-energized circuits (out) with outage permit.
Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and aerial cabling requirements
Survey aerial OFC routes, document record of findings and report same to coordinating Field Operations Engineer (FOE) or Regional Supervisor (RS).
Display understanding on the use of primary fault finding tools (e.g. Optical Power Meter, Source & OTDR).
Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optic cables and also organize scheduled maintenance routines
Identifies complex problems on the OFC route, provide technical advice and action for resolution.
Formulate and maintain fiber records.
Offer technical support to FOE/RS during emergency repairs and reduce MTTR.
Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
Perform any other task as designated by the Regional Supervisor (RS).
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years experience in similar role.
